Dick's Sporting Goods MLB

Was the MLB way off in there theory about the decline in youth baseball?
I know they think changing game times of the world series will improve kids' interest but I don't think that interest is the problem. After looking around the local Dick's sporting goods, Sport's Authority and Academy Sports I realized the reason is that baseball is way too expensive. Parents simply can't afford it. It certainly wasn't that expensive when I was growing up.
Yea I don't think the interest is declining. The difference is in how many kids are actually in little league. If you don't have the $300 bat you aren't competitive. If a kid can't be competitive he doesn't want to play anymore. The prices are ridiculous!
True in those days baseball was really cheap. Now it's more expensive. But I really don't there is that much decline in interest my city loves baseball and so do I. Me and my friends play every oppurtunity we have and we're gonna be playin all summer long. Gloves and Bats are getting more expensive but if kids sign up in a little league or something all you need are gloves the league usually supplies the equipment. Is that they want to be more active in baseball most of the time you are standing in the field or sitting on the bench. But we still love the game. It is the national pastime.
