Drive Clutch
have i broken my clutch on my 2000 ford focus, even though i can drive it still?
the bite on my clutch is really high now, and when i try to put it in gear both driving and stationary there is a nasty grinding noise. i was advised to drive to 30mph in 3rd gear and the go straight to 5th and if the revs increase but no accelaration the clutch is broken is this true?
If your car is still operational and you can change the gears then the clutch isn't completely "broken" per se. The grinding noise usually comes from the clutch not disengaging fully therefore not shifting readily into the next gear. Sounds like you have enough clutch left to go get some work done on that baby 
I think usually on Ford's they need transmission work every 100-150k depending on how hard you work the clutch.
