Tour Size
What size bass amp is the best?
I am looking to buy a larger base amp. Mine is a small practice amp and im looking for one that I can play with in a band and be able to play concerts and whatnot. I don't need one that is touring size. Just one that I can play with at bars and small venues and be an acceptable size to play with in a band when your just starting out. I dont care what kind of amp it is just the size.
You say that you want to be able to play concerts, but not touring size. I guess I don't know what your definition of "concert" is as far as crowd and room size. I also really can't tell what you're looking for size wise, so I'll cover a couple of scenarios.
I've always been a big fan of rigs that I can scale to the gig. When I was playing bass full time, my rig was two 1-18 and two 4-10 cabinets with 3 SWR heads. If it was a really big show, that's what went out. For smaller stages and venues, I just took out one of each cabinet. For club gigs, I just took out a 4-10.
I've also got a Peavey TNTcombo that I've had since the early 80's. It's a single 15" speaker, and the ones they make now are 300W. For a simple roll-it-in-and-play solution, it's hard to beat.
